About our program
We have been running our program since 2020 but new to the Sherbrooke Community League in March of 2022.
Our program is a specialized program that strives for excellence in programming and child development. We have spent many years learning the importance of play in young children and have taken our time to develop our program so that what we implement with children is relevant and full of rich learning experiences.
We also LOVE science with Kids and we have created a science program that is one of a kind! Our science concepts come from our observations with the children and what they seem to be interested in, then we gather together and create our programming. We have studied motion, and bugs, rainbows, gardening, crystal making, composting, weather and everything in between.
We have dance and music classes weekly, and yoga and mindfulness for kids, that will run from September to June throughout the year.
We spend our days immersed in language, books, and culture, laughing, playing, learning and having fun!
Our program set up was inspired by the Reggio Approach. The Reggio Emilia Learning approach believes that parents and the wider community have a collective responsibility of children. It is a village-style approach that engages children, parents and the community as all being essential to the child’s maximum development and learning potential. This learning approach is holistic, beautiful and peaceful.
At Little Bee Early Learning Academy we are surrounded in natural wood, very little plastic, and have an open concept space. The idea behind this is to feel free, not cooped up and have access to see all of our friends and siblings throughout the day.
We have put together thoughtful learning and play spaces for the children that are aesthetically pleasing and are meant to entice the children to want to play in that space. We provide building materials, recycled materials, and open ended materials that will allow for the child’s creative minds to be inspired and engaged.
In all of our play experiences there is purpose in it and theory behind it. We are masters at creating beautiful, engaging play spaces that are full of learning opportunities to support maximum potential for growth and development.
Our centre provides whole, mostly organic, home made meals beginning with a morning family breakfast table where families can come and enjoy a quick bite to eat together with their children before the work day begins, then morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack. Many of these snacks are baked in-house together with the children.

My name is Jennifer Senoga and I am the Owner and Operator of Little Bee Early Learning Academy in Edmonton. I have been working in the early education field for 17 years. I began my career working with the ABC Head Start Program in Edmonton and moved on from there to work in both assistant, and lead teaching positions, with the goal of eventually gaining enough knowledge to advance into a directing position with the ultimate goal of one day running my own program.
Before having my own children, I was on the Executive Board for the Northern Alberta Preschool Teachers Association as both the President and Vice President for many years. Through this position I was able to have the opportunity to plan and put together many Early Childhood Education Conferences around the city of Edmonton. I am passionate about early education and always striving to learn more and put into practice the knowledge gained.
I have three beautiful daughters and a wonderful husband and an extended family that lights up my world. We love to be outdoors, travel in the carefree days of international travel, and go to our lake house on the weekends. I love to read, and write and cook!
I feel lucky to spend my days with such lovely little human beings and for the opportunity to learn everything they will teach me.

I am originally from Uganda, Africa and have lived in Canada since 2004. I am by trade a pilot. I began my training at a very young age in Kenya, African, moving to Florida, USA and ultimately ending up in Edmonton, Alberta to finish my flight school education. Upon getting married in 2017 and having our first child together in 2019, my wife and I decided to change our course and open up our own Early Learning Centre to give our girls and other children the best of us and provide an environment where we could be in control of their education and development. It has been an amazing adventure so far and we are so thrilled to continue it at our new centre Little Bee Academy!
I have currently completed my Level 1 in Early Learning and Childcare but spend my days practicing flights with our friends at Little Bee! They are always up for an impromptu trip to far off destinations with Captain Rony by their side to take them there!
I’m often asked if I miss flying and the answer is yes, but I would by far miss the time spent with my family if I was away all the time. I am enjoying my time learning how to run our small business and for this next chapter in my life. I sincerely welcome you to our second home and I’m glad that you are a part of what we have created here for children!

My name is Morgan Nadeau-Smith and I am excited to be a part of the Little Bee Team! I have been in the early childhood education field for over 15 years and I recently finished my Masters in Early Childhood Education! I was honoured one of the 2019 recipients of the Prime Ministers Award of Excellence in Early Childhood Education. I am also trained in RIE (Resources for infant Educarers) and I am an ECE advocate!
I live in Sherbrooke with my husband, Keenan, and our two beautiful daughters, Kya and Zoe.
I love nature and the outdoors and I am a hunter!
I am obsessed with books and reading and when I am not at work, or with my family or friends, you will probably see me with my nose in a book!
My second passion besides Early Childhood Education is the arts. I have been involved in many festivals and shows and I am also a professional clown! I love to sing, act, write, and create art.
Something I am very passionate about when it comes to Early Childhood Education, is giving children time. Time to explore, play, and to just be themselves. I find that our society is very rushed, and I hope that we can all learn from createor of RIE, Magda Gerber's words and "Slow Down, then slow down some more."

In my spare time I love singing, baking, and cooking. I enjoy music and storytelling.
Meet the Team
Child-led doesn't mean, let them do whatever they want, it means notice what they notice, set safe boundaries, share joy, acknowledge their needs, respect their opinions, empower them, HEAR THEM.
Our staff is here to help guide this philosophy and to also immerse themselves in play, giving them the ability to observe the children, provide the materials that they need and ask questions that will inspire children to think, problem solve and play with a free spirit and creativity!

Hi friends!
My name is Alexis Martin-Ferreira. I have been working with Little Bee Early Learning Academy since the beginning of 2023. I have a few roles within our daycare and one of the ones I love best is being a liaison between parents and our centre. I am the sharer of all daycare information and hugs! As the administrative master, I pride myself on organization and time management! Helping families ease into daycare and bridging the gap between our centre and your home, is my favourite. I am delighted to get to know you and your children and make our daycare a happy and warm home away from home for you all.
Aside from daycare life, I am a daughter, big sister, wife and friend.
I love love love to read and enjoy quiet moments at home with my amazing husband Jacob and our cat, Jasper!

Pricing and Payment
Starting April 1st, 2025 the Provincial subsidy will be no longer available. This is an Alberta-wide initiative so all childcares will charge the same minimum fee. The Federal government is committed to having all Childcare spots down to $10 a day. This new plan starting on April 1st is a stepping stone towards that, and will be following a $15 a day plan. Yoga classes will continue to be paid for by the Academy. Due to the new legislation the fees are as follows:
12 - 19 months
$326.25 Parent Portion per child regardless of age or room enrolment
19 months - under 3 yrs
$326.25 Parent Portion per child regardless of age or room enrolment
3 yrs - Kindergarten
$326.25 Parent Portion per child regardless of age or room enrolment
Meal Fee = $100.00 per month per child (includes a community continental breakfast with coffee, milk, tea, for parents and children, then morning snack and hot lunch and afternoon snack and an all day fresh fruit bar. This equates to about $5/day.)
OSC Fees is $775.00. This includes transportation to and from school, and the meal program. This means children will be provided snacks and, on any days they are in full time care, lunch will be provided.
Payment is due on the 1st of every month, payable by Cheque or E-transfer. Please see the parent handbook for more details.
